Prior to joining WorldatWork, Dr. Scott Cawood was the Leader of Organizational Effectiveness at W.L. Gore & Associates Inc., the maker of Gore-Tex.  Scott has served as the President of Synygy, a global compensation and sales software company where he began as its chief human resources officer.  Scott has also held executive positions as VP of Global Talent at Revlon and the Great Place to Work Institute, which selects Fortune magazine's 100 Best Places to Work.

As an avid learner, Scott holds five degrees, including his doctorate in work-based learning from the Wharton School of Business and the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania. He also studied labor and industrial relations, at Michigan State. He has been a part of the business school faculty at Georgetown University for 15 years and supports building equitable and rewarding workplaces anywhere he goes.  Scott holds a first-degree Black belt in Kenpo Karate, has only been knocked out twice when competing, and while not a big fan of sweets, will never turn down carrot cake.  Scott lived much of his life in NYC but was born in Michigan and now calls the sunny state of Arizona, home.

This year, we’re proud to partner with the Oregon CASA Network, an organization whose mission is to support and promote court-appointed volunteers who work with children that have experienced abuse or neglect.  These volunteers support each child’s case until it is closed, and the child is in a safe, permanent home.

The CEO herself, Debra Gilmore, will be presenting to share a little about the organization and how Total Rewards PDX and you can help. You can help contribute to this organization by shopping at the Columbia Sportswear Employee Store (passes will be available for every attendee!).  While their focus is on helping children through tough times in their lives through CASAs and not about gifts, you may also bring clothing or toy donations.  Debra will ensure they get delivered to children in the network that are in need this holiday season.

Debra A. Gilmore, PMP, MPA, JD is the Chief Executive Officer of Oregon CASA Network. For more than 25 years, strengthening child and family welfare has been Debra’s vocation.  She has contributed to the field through national consulting and capacity-building, executive leadership, agency legal representation, state and federal policy analysis, and direct services. She has presented nationally, been published in journals and trade publications, and recently co-authored the second edition of Child Protection in Families Experiencing Domestic Violence (part of the Children’s Bureau’s Child Abuse and Neglect User Manual Series). Debra was a 2008 recipient of a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Adoption Excellence Award. Early in her professional life, Debra had the privilege of being a CASA volunteer. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law and her Master of Public Administration from University of Nebraska at Omaha. She is also a certified Project Management Professional. Debra’s son, daughter-in-law, daughter, and husband inspire her to spread the word that every person has the capacity to change a child’s story.
